The vacant Council seat has a short term which ends December 31, 2023. Because of the short period remaining on this term of office, if the appointed person to this vacant City Council Seat wishes to continue in that position past December 2023, he/she will need to run for City Council this 2023 election year. Sign-ups for the 2023 election run from June 1st to June 7th 2023.
Qualified residents who wish to be a candidate for this current vacant Council seat may pick up an application at City Hall 2267 N 1500 W or from the City website, www.clintoncity.com. Completed applications must be dropped off or emailed (dcluff@clintoncity.com ) to the City Manager’s office at City Hall before 5:00 pm on Tuesday May 9, 2023. The Mayor and City Council will hold interviews of qualified applicants at a Special Council Meeting on May 15th starting at 6:00 pm at City Hall. The City Council may appoint one of the applicants to the vacant City Council seat at the end of the interviews or at a subsequent Special Council meeting.
