With the passing of our dear friend Barbara Patterson, it is the intention of the Clinton City Council to hold interviews to fill her Council Seat vacancy at a Special City Council meeting on Wednesday June 28, 2023, starting at 7 p.m. in a public meeting. The vacant seat’s term continues through December 31, 2023. Below are details on how the appointment will occur.

Qualified residents who wish to be a candidate for this vacant Council seat may pick up an application at City Hall 2267 N 1500 W or from the city website, www.clintoncity.com.  Completed applications must be dropped off to the City Manager’s office at City Hall or emailed to (dcluff@clintoncity.com ) before 5:00 pm on Monday June 26, 2023.

For the interview, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, every qualified applicant will be asked to give a prepared 3-minute presentation.  The presentations could include the applicant’s thoughts on where Clinton is succeeding, what could be improved, issues the City is facing, and ideas on how the applicant would serve our residents. The Council may ask follow-up questions prompted by the applicant presentations and written application responses.

Following all interviews, the Council may vote to appoint a new Council member or table the decision to a Special meeting set within the following 48 hours.  The new appointed Council member will be sworn in by the City Recorder at the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting on July 11, 2023.
